Ms. Josefine Roderigo, LL.M., is a criminal defense lawyer at Schlun & Elseven Rechtsanwälte PartG mbB. With expertise in forensic psychology and criminology, she offers comprehensive legal advice and defense in criminal proceedings, with particular focus on cases involving psychological assessments, diminished responsibility, and youth criminal law.
General Criminal Defense
Ms. Roderigo provides comprehensive legal representation across all stages of criminal proceedings, from initial investigations through trial and appeal. Her diverse training experience, including work with the public prosecutor’s office and criminal defense practice, has equipped her with valuable insights into investigative procedures and prosecutorial strategies, which she leverages to build strong defenses for her clients.
Youth Criminal Law
Ms. Roderigo has developed particular expertise in youth criminal law (Jugendstrafrecht), having focused on this area during her university studies. Her approach emphasises rehabilitation over punishment, and she works closely with young clients and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes within the German youth justice system.
As a qualified lawyer with an advanced Master’s degree in Forensics, Criminology and Law, Ms. Roderigo brings a distinctive analytical approach to criminal defense. Her expertise in forensic psychology and criminological principles enables her to develop sophisticated defense strategies, particularly in cases involving questions of criminal responsibility, mental health assessments, and psychological evaluations.
As a member of our extradition law and Interpol proceedings team, Josefine Roderigo represents her clients in applying for information and deletion proceedings before the Commission for the Control of Interpol Files (CCF). The aim of these proceedings is to review the legality of Red Notices and Interpol Diffusions and to have unlawful, politically motivated or human rights-violating notices deleted.
In addition, Ms. Roderigo represents clients in national and international extradition proceedings – particularly in cases where extradition involves serious human rights risks. She provides interim legal protection in such proceedings to suspend the execution of an extradition warrant or the actual transfer to the requesting country until the courts have finally determined whether the extradition is permissible and compatible with human rights.
Ms. Josefine Roderigo completed her initial legal education at the University of Cologne, specialising in Criminology, Youth Criminal Law, and Correctional Law. Subsequently, she pursued advanced studies at Maastricht University, where she earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Forensics, Criminology, and Law.
During her legal clerkship, Ms. Roderigo gained comprehensive practical experience across the criminal justice system, including work with the Cologne Public Prosecutor’s Office in departments handling serious crimes and extensive training in correctional facilities.
