Linda Römer practices at Schlun & Elseven Rechtsanwälte and specializes in German citizenship law and immigration and residence law. She advises and represents clients on all aspects of German citizenship – from applying for naturalization to questions about dual citizenship. She also assists foreign nationals in residence permit procedures, particularly with applying for and extending residence permits and in cases involving immigration enforcement measures. With her legal expertise and understanding of the personal significance of citizenship and immigration matters, she guides clients through every stage of the application process.
Linda Römer advises clients on all questions relating to German citizenship law. She provides particular support with determining and acquiring German citizenship, questions about dual citizenship, and renunciation of German citizenship. Throughout this process, she supports clients through the entire application procedure, reviews required documents, and handles communication with the relevant authorities.
Naturalization through Residence | Article 116(2) Naturalization
For foreign nationals who have lived in Germany for several years and wish to pursue naturalization, Ms. Römer is a knowledgeable point of contact. She explains requirements such as residence duration, language proficiency, and successful completion of an integration course. She also assists with compiling all necessary documentation and develops an individual application strategy aimed at achieving successful and timely naturalization.
Ms. Römer also advises clients on so-called Article 116(2) naturalization, supporting descendants of people who lost their German citizenship during the Nazi era. In these sensitive cases, she analyzes the individual legal situation, examines historical and legal background, and guides the application from initial consultation through to decision. She places great emphasis on thorough legal analysis and compassionate support for applicants.
Determination of Citizenship and Dual Citizenship
Ms. Römer assists people who possess German citizenship by descent and wish to have this officially confirmed. She ensures legally sound applications, verifies all statutory requirements, and helps obtain relevant documentation such as birth certificates, proof of descent, or historical documents.
She also provides comprehensive advice on dual citizenship questions. Since the reform of the Citizenship Act in June 2024, dual citizenship has been largely recognized in Germany. Ms. Römer explains current legal possibilities, advises on the requirements for holding multiple citizenships, and guides clients through all related application procedures.
Linda Römer provides comprehensive advice to foreign nationals on all residence law matters. She assists with applying for and extending residence permits, whether for study, employment, family reunification, or humanitarian reasons. She reviews legal requirements, carefully prepares applications, and guides clients through the entire administrative procedure.
A particular focus of her practice is representation in immigration enforcement cases. Ms. Römer represents clients facing deportation orders, deportation, and entry or residence bans. She reviews the legality of administrative decisions, develops defense strategies, and vigorously advocates for her clients’ rights – both in administrative proceedings and before administrative courts.
Linda Römer completed her legal clerkship (Referendariat) in the jurisdiction of the Cologne Higher Regional Court. Her training took her to the Aachen Regional Court, the Aachen Public Prosecutor’s Office, a Cologne law firm specializing in white-collar criminal law, and to the correctional system. These diverse placements gave her deep insights into different areas of law and practical legal application.
After successfully passing her second state examination, Linda Römer worked for a year and a half as an attorney at a Cologne consumer law firm before joining Schlun & Elseven Rechtsanwälte. Her previous professional experience across different areas of law informs her current advisory practice.
