German Legal developments explained
The German Embassy in Iran has suspended visa services. Legal remedies may still allow applicants to pursue their cases.
A discontinued criminal investigation can still raise doubts about constitutional loyalty during naturalization proceedings.
An EU residence permit does not automatically allow you to live in Germany. A separate German residence permit is usually required.
Some applicants can naturalize without a B1 certificate. Guest workers and certain others may qualify under special rules.
German citizenship does not currently mean compulsory military service. The new rules also do not restrict living abroad in practice.
